Bio:Joanne Osborn was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Her hometown inspired her to turn blank canvases into an array of color and form. She had the chance to live in Europe and then attend college in the US. During her lifetime, she has done extensive traveling around the world, but realizes that there is more out there to explore. Her work is symbolic as well as expressionistic. Artist Statement: "My work interprets different anthropological and cultural views of the world. As a traveler, I capture the small details each culture has to offer and transform a blank canvas into a dance, a performance, a scene, a documentary or simply a memory from a different country. I am influenced by music and folklore, as well as political and social events. There are also hidden personal experiences thrown in the subject matter. Life takes you down different roads. You must experience all the roads on the map to understand where you want to go. For me, art is an important path. Surroundings and people are inspiring. If we didn't have that, the world would be blank. I truly admire artists of all genres. Whether it's a famous designer or a graffiti artist, I believe in the expression of the inner child and inner soul. Why keep life so mundane when you can give it color, music, pattern and light?"
