Raised in the waterside town of Sarasota, Florida, Brianne Ruggeri enjoyed all that the senses can take in from life on the beach. Her watercolor and acrylic works of art are a reflection of her love for “pops!” of color and smooth wavelike lines.
Inspired by her work with children and families in difficult times, creating a piece of art reminds Brianne of the importance of finding acceptance and peace in everyday life. There is beauty and balance all around us in the world, and capturing that is what drives this clever artist.
Brianne is a mainly self-taught artist; however she has taken numerous intense workshops at Ringling School of Art and Design, including the Wild Acres camp in North Carolina. She has participated in numerous community art events in Sarasota as a member of the National Art Honor Society at the Riverview High School. Brianne graduated from Florida State University in 2005 with a degree in Social Sciences and Law. While in college, she explored Art History and Fashion Design.
Artist Statement:
“My paintings celebrate a moment in time that is thoughtful and alive. I propose that every moment is fleeting and different, just as no sunset is ever the same. I try to capture this uniqueness in my works. Whether I am painting a landscape, still life, or portrait, I aim to create a sense of personal reflection in the range of colors I choose. I use varying degrees of thickness of paint to create rich texture, dramatic boldness and depth of color. A successful painting is one that illuminates the subtleties of beauty and balance in a moment of time.”
